Following on from our recent pitches in California and Austin, and The Big Indie Pitch is once again stateside, and this time we're heading to Seattle. However, that's not all though, as this isn't just any old Big Indie Pitch. In fact, we're bringing our bumper Very Big Indie Pitch to The Emerald City as Pocket Gamer Connects rolls into town for Pocket Gamer Connects Seattle 2019.

The Very Big Indie Pitch will be exactly what it says on the tin: a mammoth developer pitching competition open to all types of independent developers working on mobile, portable (including Switch), mobile VR or AR, wherever they are.

What? How? Who?

The basic criteria:

  • You can pitch games for mobile, portable (including Switch), mobile VR, and AR
  • You can pitch your game even if you’ve pitched it at a previous BIP
  • We prefer to see unreleased games, though we’re happy to see games that are out too

Kicking off with a preliminary round of submissions between to identify the best talent (and allow overseas developers a chance to be shortlisted), we’ll then progress to the face-to-face pitch which takes place as a part of Pocket Gamer Connects Seattle 2019.

As usual this means gathering a host of leading mobile game journalists in one room, together with partner sponsors from the publishing and middleware sector, and then allowing the devs 4 minutes to pitch to each journalist table in a ‘speed dating’ style.

Once all the developers have pitched, the judges confer and pick five finalists. Those shortlisted will then spend Day 2 showcasing their game to PGC delegates who will vote for their favourite. The finalists will subsequently take turns to present their game to the audience at the end of Day 2 before the winners from the vote are announced on stage.

Profile and prizes

Aside from editorial coverage and the chance to get their game in front of the leading media influencers and potential publisher partners, The Big Indie Pitch also rewards the top developers with a range or bespoke Indie Prizes which allow the recipients access to a range of Steel Media's advertorial and consultancy services. We'll also be interviewing the top three for PocketGamer.Biz. and the overall winner will additionally receive free tickets to a Pocket Gamer Connects of their choice.
