Fideo's Adventure was full of confidence and won the Very Big Indie Pitch at Dubai GameExpo Summit

Fideo's Adventure took first place at the Very Big Indie Pitch at Dubai GameExpo Summit powered by Pocket Gamer Connects, a conference full of talks, fringe events, and of course indie games. 

If you aren't familiar with the Very Big Indie Pitch, it's a speed-dating-style event that challenges a group of indie developers to quick-fire pitch their game to various panels of experts from all corners of the games industry.

Teams who participate then get valuable feedback on both their game and pitching style, as well as gain experience in pitching quickly and meeting a variety of experts. Winners also receive prizes including a golden Big Indie Pitch baseball bat and promotational packages.

For this specific pitch, we saw 12 indie developers come together to show off their mobile, PC and console games to our judges. There were a variety of titles on show, from story-driven projects about specific cultures, to musical and multiplayer experiences.

With so many different projects to see and pitches to judge, our experts spent an hour deliberating before selecting the top three games of the Very Big Indie Pitch:

First Place

Fideo's Adventure by Nomadroid

(Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and PC)

Fideo’s Adventure is an action-adventure game with isometric hack-n-slash elements. You are able to use your stretchy arms as weapons, combining and customising different aspects of them so that you can make a weapon that fits your playing style. 

This title is full of secrets to uncover, artistic dolls, and a very unique look. The judges were impressed with the professional pitch itself, along with the unique concept behind the game.

Second Place

Mad King Redemption by SECRET MISSION

(Switch and PC)

Mad King Redemption is a mix of a rougelite and a beat’em’up, with lots of pixelated, retro-inspired graphics thrown in.

The storyline follows a hero trying to defeat the Mad King, who used forbidden magic to try and resuscitate his queen, however, it only led to darkness. The game’s concept and story captivated our judges, who found it to be very interesting.

Third Place

Azooma Escape by Ash Games Studio

(PC)

Azooma Escape is a top-down, stealth action game but with a sort of silly and relatable backstory. You play as a young Saudi guest who just wants to escape a party.

Your goal is to congratulate your uncle, but then find yourself being bombarded by your family, who all have something else to say. You can overcome puzzles, sneak your way out, and avoid everyone you don’t want to talk to! Our judges felt that the concept around this game was very relatable and polished.
