US women more likely to have an iPad game installed than men, claims AYTM
In advance of Apple's iPad 3 unveiling on 7 March, market research firm Ask Your Target Market has published the results of a questionnaire surveying 500 American iPad owners about their relationship with the device.
The report designed to illustrate typical iPad usage suggests more 75 percent of owners across the US have 11 or more apps installed on their tablets.
Free apps lead the line, however, with AYTM claiming more than half of iPad owners have five or less paid apps on their device, while 20 percent have none at all.
Gender split
When those results are filtered by gender, it appears men are more willing to pay for apps than women, with 28 percent of female iPad owners having no paid apps installed to 15 percent of male owners.
Interestingly, however, when it comes games as a whole paid and free both included women are more prolific than men, with 88 percent having at least one title installed to 82 percent of men.
Unsurprisingly, when respondents were asked to name their single favourite app, Rovio's record-selling Angry Birds named the clear winner.
