Singapore-based games publisher Garena Online has soft-launched Contra: Return in Southeast Asia in conjunction with Tencent and Konami.
The Tencent-developed side-scroller is currently available for download on iOS and Android in the Philippines, Thailand, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
The retro-inspired title was initially launched in China on iOS in May of last year, with an August 2017 release for Android.

Specifics on financial performance are not currently known, but Tencent did point to the title as a front-runner for mobile revenues growing 84 per cent to $2.75 billion in Q3 of last year.
The title is a regular top 40 grosser on the China App Store, often peaking inside the top 10.
A Western release for the game may also be forthcoming, as aspects on the Android appear to be westernised with English language and promotion.
Featuring familiar heroes Bill and Lance, players take to side-scrolling levels in co-op action with updated 3D visuals.
Contra: Return also includes a variety of PVP options, from one on one to three on three.
