Tencent mobile revenues grew 84% to $2.75 billion in Q3

Tencent has released its financials for its Q3 FY17 for the three months ending September 30th 2017.

It posted overall revenues of $9.8 billion for the quarter, up 61% year-on-year. Profit for the period also rose by 69% year-on-year to $2.7 billion.

Breaking this down further, revenue from its games segment generated $4.05 billion in Q3, up 48% year-on-year. Its mobile games alone generated $2.75 billion, up an impressive 84% year-on-year.

Still on top

Honor of Kings remains the top performer for Tencent, though the company also pointed to Contra Return, Legacy TLBB Mobile, Legen of XuanYuan Mobile, and Journey to the Fairyland Mobile as key drivers of revenue.

Tencent also launched its own self-developed game Kings of Chaos in the quarter, which it says contributed to revenue growth. Upcoming release Glorious Mission and an update to CrossFire Mobile called Deserted Island opened pre-registration campaigns in November 2017, which Tencent says have received a strong response.

Honor of Kings has yet to launch in the US and Canada, though pre-registration for the game is now available. Tencent also recently acquired a 12% stake in Snapchat parent company Snap Inc as it continues to spread its influence across all areas of tech.
