About
John Romero is an American programmer, game designer and developer. He is best known as a co-founder of id Software and was instrumental in the making of many best-selling games, including Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3-D, Doom and Quake. His game designs and development tools, along with new programming techniques created in collaboration with id Sofware's John Carmack, established the first-person shooter genre. He has also been part of the leadership teams of Ion Storm and Monkeystone Games before his current role at Romero Games. His autobiography, published in July 2023, is called Doom Guy.
