2011 Meffys Awards finalists announced as for July 7 extravaganza

MEF has unveiled the shortlist of finalists up for a total of 18 titles at this year's eighth annual Meffy Awards.

With the winners set to be announced during a gala dinner hosted by Ruby Wax in Covent Garden's Grand Connaught Rooms on July 7, two categories in particular will be of interest to PG.biz readers.

Games galore

Up for Best Game are EA's Dead Space on iOS, BackBreaker 2: Vengeance from NaturalMotion, PlayPhone's PlayPhone Poker, Bejeweled Live on Windows Phone 7 by PopCap and Den Hemmekige Parken (The Secret Park) by Two Bulls.

Two Bulls' release is also up for Best Innovative App.

Meanwhile, up for Best Mobile Connected Device is Amazon's Kindle 3G, Apple's iPad 2 and iPhone 4, the Eee Pad Transformer from Asus and Samsung's Galaxy S II.

Mobile matters

"The Meffys provide a window into the latest global trends in the evolving mobile ecosystem," said MEF executive director Rimma Perelmuter.

"This year's shortlist demonstrates the rise in mobile content and commerce services that not only entertain but also enable deeper consumer engagement and monetisation directly via the mobile connected device."
