The global economic washout has naturally meant the advertising spending has dropped, but according to new research from Magna, mobile ad revenue is set to increase by 36 per cent this year to $229 million.
Magnas head of global forecasting predicts 2010 will see an acceleration of mobile advertising activity thanks not only to the rise in smartphone sales, but the huge proliferation of applications on the likes of the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.
Its still quite a small corner of the online advertising arena - which was estimated to weigh in at around $23.4 billion last year - but the attention advertisers are turning on the mobile market is clear.
