Acer planning smartphone app store?

Acer has been planning to enter the smartphone market for some time, with details of its Windows Mobile and Android plans leaking out steadily since early on in the year.
Its J.T. Wang has previously gone on record saying that he believes smartphones could supersede PCs altogether, and Mobile-Ent has picked up on news that the hardware manufacturer is ramping up its mobile entry with plans for an online app store.
It's all still rumour at the moment, as there'll presumably be some area of uncomfortable cross-over between the Acer and the likes of Microsoft and Google, which will both be running rival app stores.
The news does suggest that the distribution difficulties Acer faced with getting its range of handsets out into the market could be coming to an end. It had aimed to get smartphones onto the shelves for the holiday season, but set its launch estimate back to 2010 after carriers were slow on the uptake.
