Following the surprise news that Apple seems to be banning applications which primarily use your geographical location for targeted ads, AdMob, one of the bigger mobile ad networks is expressing its disquiet.

According to Mobile-Ent.biz, the company has released a statement saying:

"Apple's iPhone and App Store platforms have been critical in driving the growth of mobile advertising. We've heard about this change from a number of worried application developers and share their concern.

"We hope this is not indicative of a new approach by Apple and that many different companies will continue to have the ability to contribute to the rapid innovation in mobile advertising on the iPhone."

Of course, what's significant in this situation is that while Google is in the process of buying AdMob, Apple has bought rival mobile ad network Quattro.

So expect plenty of complaints if Apple pushes through what appears to be the letter of its new law.
