Having had a series of tussles with Apple in the past, adult app store MiKandi has announced the launch of a new HTML 5 version of its video platform, enabling it to reach consumers on iOS.

The HTML5 edition offers a "diverse mix of the world's best adult videos" through its newly released adult video theatre, with MiKandi claiming it expects to significantly expand the platform's audience as a result.

"People with iOS devices have been asking for us to support them since we launched and we're happy to finally satisfy their demands and give them the freedom of choice," said CEO Jesse Adams, adding that the firm is looking to expand adult content on its platform to meet the new demand.

"By forging new partnerships with leading adult studios, we can ensure that MiKandi truly has something for everyone."

Back in 2011, Apple reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter MiKandi's way, ordering the company to brand itself as an 'App Market for Adults' rather than an 'App Store'.

Supposedly risky apps banned from Apple's platform such as iBoobs also found their way onto MiKandi for Android - a move that came a year after former Apple CEO Steve Jobs disparagingly advised consumers looking for porn on smartphones to tap up Android rather than iOS.

MiKandi claims the video theatre, which launched three months ago, has attracted "thousands of customers" to date, with video sourced from 15 studios in all.
