Amazon shows support for Android with music purchase app

Competing with iTunes isnt the kind of task a company thats even as big as Google can easily tackle, but it seems the internet giants smartphone platform might have just found a shortcut to on-device music purchases that's enough to shake Apple from the music tree.
Amazon has launched an application that allows Android users to shop directly from its online MP3 service, which currently offers over 10 million tracks from the four major distribution labels and a huge number of indies.
"Customers now have even more ways to discover our selection of over ten million MP3 songs at the touch of a button, with individual tracks starting at 29p and MP3 albums at £3," says Amazon EU MP3 senior manager Raquel Gonzalez-Dalmau.
While this isnt exactly a brand new feature (the store was preloaded on the G1 in the US), the application is now available to all handsets through the Marketplace, delivering the MP3 content to new territories and even newer devices.
