Ever since the G1 there’s been a constant stream of new Android-powered device announcements, though none have actually emerged yet.

Samsung has spoken out to reassure its customers that three Android handsets will be released this year, however, after announcing last year that it had put together an in-house team of experts to begin work on touchscreen-powered devices.

Apparently many of the delays in new Android devices aren’t coming from manufacturers, but carriers, who aren’t exhibiting much confidence in Google’s platform.

“Some operators were concerned about the vision Google has [and] that affected [timing],” Samsung executive Won-Pyo Hong told Forbes. “Our commitment is more to the Android phone than the Google Experience device.”

Now the Market is in full swing, this aversion to the iPhone competition might well ease, as uptake on the user’s part has been very encouraging. And with manufacturing giants like Samsung and Archos taking genuine interest in the operating system, interest is expected to rise as the platform gives the like of Windows Mobile a serious run for its money.
