In Japan, around 90 per cent of mobile phones are shipped every year with Aplix Corporation's Java application execution environment, JBlend, equipped.

Now Aplix is looking to push its framework out to the rest of the world through a partnership with Japanese mobile developer G-Mode, which boasts a catalogue of 400 original games and creates more than 300 new titles annually.

The partnership is targeting emerging markets (presumably China, India and South America) in an effort to introduce and popularise mobile gaming, and establish JBlend with handset manufacturers.

The big push will begin with pre-installed content to attract mobile users to the gaming arena, and then accelerate distribution through manufacturers' and service providers' portals.

Currently 100 million mobile phones are sold each year with JBlend installed and this new move could help to not only give Aplix extra penetration, but promote the mobile gaming industry in new territories.
