Already confirmed for its Dundee debut this November, those behind the first International App Conference have revealed this year's inaugural event will take place at Discovery Point - home of the RRS Discovery.

The Antarctic explorer will play host to both AppCon and design competition AppJam - a 48 hour long challenge to create original apps to be judged by a panel of industry partners.

Both events form part of Dundee's week-long NEoN Digital Arts Festival, which takes place across the whole of the city from November 8 15.

Discovery in Dundee

"We're very excited to be hosting the App Conference at Discovery Point," says project manager Andy Mackenzie.

"The RRS Discovery is famous worldwide, making it a perfect venue for the international AppCon and AppJam. We are now in discussions with speakers from all corners of the globe and hope to be confirming the first names within the next few days."

Said speakers who the organisers claim will reflect the international nature of the business - will be spread across the three days of AppCon, with the event due to focus on app development on iPad, iPhone, Android and Facebook.

Tickets for AppCon can be purchased at an early bird price of £99 (plus VAT) until October 4, coming in at £125 thereafter.

Students can pick up a limited number of spots for £30 (plus VAT).

You can find out more about the events via the AppCon website or its Twitter account.
