Apple continues to dominate mobile application usage

Analytics firm Flurry has released its monthly figures showing a breakdown of mobile application usage across different platforms, with Apple maintaining its dominance.
The closest competition the iPhone has - which accounts for 56 per cent of app usage - is the iPod touch, which snatches up 26 per cent of the figures.
However, this is a small decrease for Apple over last month, while Googles Android platform has doubled its usage stats to 16 per cent.
It also highlighted an emerging threat to the mobile carriers - wi-fi. As wireless internet access gains more and more coverage every day, data tariffs will begin to feel the pinch. Over half of the data usage of the applications measured in the survey used wi-fi, though the majority of that was in the home.
Overall, it doesnt seem to matter which figures you look at - Apples in the lead, and staying there.
