Announced in October, Apple's forthcoming Mac App Store is nearing launch, with the firm revealing the doors are now open for apps submissions.

Developers looking to have their titles on the roster for day one can now send their apps off to be reviewed and approved, with Apple detailing the process in an email pushed out to studios earlier today.

"The Mac App Store will be opening soon," the email reads.

"Log in to the Mac Dev Center for details on setting up an iTunes Connect account, creating Apple-issued Mac Distribution Certificates and preparing your apps for the review process."

App happy

Apple has previously pitched the Mac App Store as more of the same serving up apps covering games, education and music although the marketplace won't be listed on iTunes, instead existing as its own space.

"The Mac App Store is just like the App Store for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad," Apple said on its website following the marketplace's unveiling.

"The Mac App Store revolutionises the way applications are installed on a computer - it happens in one step. You can browse Mac apps by category...or do a quick search for something specific. You can install Mac apps on every Mac you use and even download them again."

Developers looking to get on board should visit Apple's dedicated Mac App Store website.
