Late last night Apple made a new version of the 3.2 iPhone/iPad operating system SDK available for download, and it seems more than a few developers were waiting in line to grab it.

Precise details of the revisions made to the 3.2 SDK are under a non-disclosure agreement for devs, so it's not entirely clear what changes have been made. The official developer website took a serious pounding, however, suggesting that there are features now available that programmers really needed.

Comments around the internet point to features such as a new Core Text framework, which allows you to create text layers in core animation; some improvements to the gesture controls available; and a new version of XCode that allows developers to convert iPhone apps directly into iPad software, and build universal apps for both devices.

This new iteration of the operating system will be rolled out onto the iPhone, but it seems most devs are jumping on the toolset for the chance to get their iPad games and applications ready for launch.
