Apple has some pretty big plans already for the Worldwide Developers Conference, which it just announced will be held at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco.

Alongside the anticipated announcements about the Snow Leopard operating system, Apple is expected to make more of the recent iPhone 3.0 SDK, and is hoped to let loose details on the handset’s much rumoured hardware updates.

Speculations around new iPhone models began when the new 3.0 SDK was dissected to reveal references to six new version numbers, which are rumoured to include video recording, a higher resolution camera, improved gaming hardware and higher speed connectivity.

None of these has yet been substantiated, of course, and Apple has remained typically tight lipped about any new hardware (in an effort to avoid the Osborne Effect that technology companies fear so much).

Neither is there any news as to whether or not Steve Jobs will be in attendance, as he initially suggested he’d be back at work at the beginning of June. But the WWDC is the premier venue for Apple announcements, so hopefully many of our questions will be answered in time for summer.
