Apple to host media event in New York City in January 2012

Apple, the famously tight-lipped purveyor of iPhone and iPad, is preparing to hold a small scale event in New York City at the end of the month.
According to sources cited over at AllThingsD, the event will be based around a 'media-related announcement.' Though just what that entails is still up in the air.
What we do know is that it's unlikely that we'll hear any details about hot topics the iPad 3 or Apple TV.
Whispers
Apparently Apple SVP of internet software and services Eddy Cue will be involved, implying that the announcement will be focused on either advertising or publishing.
The last time Cue was seen in NYC was when Apple co-launched online magazine The Daily with News Corps.
It's also possible that an announcement could be made regarding the currently vacant head of its mobile advertising position, since previous head Andy Miller left in summer 2011.
