Apple has introduced a new promo code system for developers to distribute their iPhone apps and games to journalists and bloggers.

Each app can have up to 50 promo codes distributed, which can then be redeemed on the App Store.

It sounds easier than the current preferred method, which involves journalists using an application called Ad Hoc to send their Unique Device Identifier to developers, then getting sent a file to sideload onto their iPhone.

The process is so fiddly, that many reviewers have preferred to just go and buy games - this is certainly something we've been doing for the majority of iPhone titles reviewed for Pocket Gamer.

Is 50 promo codes enough, though? Given the increasing number of sites and blogs covering iPhone games, possibly not. Although Apple may well raise the limit once the new system is up and running.
