Chhota Bheem Speed Racing has topped the new free download charts on Google Play in India.
The game, which was developed in partnership between Mumbai publisher Nazara Games and Lithuanian studio Tiny Lab Productions, features the popular Indian cartoon character Chhota Bheem racing in various vehicles.
Nazara CEO Manish Agarwal tweeted his congratulations to the team at Tiny Lab Productions, adding that the game has racked up 1 million downloads in three weeks and boasts 500,000 daily active users.
In good company
Nazara is no stranger to such milestones.
In fact, it was another of its Chhota Bheem-licensed titles – the June Software-developed Chhota Bheem Race – that became the first Indian game to top the local Google Play charts back in November 2015.
Chhota Bheem Himalayan Adventures was also a chart-topper in 2016, as was Virat Cricket (also from Nazara) and Sultan: The Game from 99Games.
India broke into the worldwide top five countries for mobile game downloads in Q2 2016, and App Annie predicts revenues of $1.1 billion by 2020. However, there are still significant barriers to success.
