Nexon and Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors Unleashed smashes 5 million downloads

Nexon and Koei Tecmo's mobile brawler Dynasty Warriors Unleashed has achieved over 5 million downloads since it first launched on March 30th 2017.

It had previously achieved one million downloads in the first 24 hours of its launch. It then surpassed two million downloads within its first five days of being available.

High hopes

Unleashed was initially soft-launched on February 23rd 2017 in Australia, Canada, Indonesia and the Philippines. It was launched globally only a month later with very few updates or changes.

Nexon in particular is hoping for big things from the game. It identified Dynasty Warriors Unleashed as a potential key revenue driver for its Q1 FY17 in its Q4 FY16 financials.

Koei Tecmo hasn't been a particularly strong force in mobile recently, but that could be set to change. The company recently launched a new mobile-only brand, Midas, with a younger staff who should understand the current mobile market.
