Hollow Knight dev Team Cherry snags Studio of the Year accolade at Australian Game Developer Awards 2018

Hollow Knight developer Team Cherry took home the award for Studio of the Year at the Australian Game Developer Awards.

It’s been a year of stand-out notoriety for the Australian developers as Metroidvania Hollow Knight received a massive second wind after launching on Nintendo Switch, where It was the highest-selling game of Switch for August.

Hosted in the St Kilda Town Hall in Melbourne, the Australian Game Developer Awards recognises the best on show within the Australian industry and forms part of the Melbourne International Games Week.

The Voxel Agents won the award for Game of the Year with puzzle game Gardens Between, which is available on Switch, PC and console.

On top of that, freelance narrative and production consultant Liam Esler won the Industry Champion award for his contribution to the Australian games development space. 

Hipster Whale business administrator and IGDA Melbourne chapter director Giselle Rosman took home the Adam Lancman prize. A prize named after the founder and president of the Game Developers' Association of Australia.

Alongside those rewards, others were given out that didn’t have a name attached to them, but instead identified games with a good mix of art, sound and gameplay.
