Advertising platform Azerion has sold its subsidiary Whow Games to South Korea’s DoubleUGames subsidiary DoubleDown Interactive.

The deal includes a €55 million ($64.2m) upfront payment and up to €10m ($11.6m) in potential earnouts, pending customary adjustments.

Azerion said Whow Games' sale is part of its broader portfolio optimisation strategy, which previously included selling its social card games portfolio for €81.3m ($95m) in 2023.

Growth and expansion

Founded in the Netherlands in 2014, Azerion has grown through strategic acquisitions. In 2024, it reported €551m ($644m) in revenue with a 68% EBITDA growth in Q1 2025.

“We are excited to take this further step to strengthen our digital advertising business,” said Azerion chief strategy officer Sebastiaan Moesman.

“This sale enables us to dedicate even more resources and attention on realising our growth and expansion plans. We are also demonstrating once again that our investment strategy can create long-term value for our shareholders.”
