With the aim helping Android developers stand out from the crowd, Best Buy's Get Discovered competition has entered its final stage, with a chosen few studios heading towards the contest's live evaluation in March.

The contest, which is sponsored by both Best Buy and the Hooked Media Group, looks to deliver a full suite of rewards to the winner.

On offer is distribution through Best Buy's App Discovery Centre, seed funding from venture capital firm Trinity Venture and an online ad package from tech blog VentureBeat.

Discovery derby

"With hundreds of thousands of apps currently in the Android Marketplace, it can be difficult for game developers to break through the clutter and have their games seen by the public," said Hooked Media CEO Prita Uppal.

"The 'Get Discovered' contest provides a tremendous opportunity for developers to raise exposure through Best Buy's App Discovery Center and have their games played by new audiences."

The competition's final is due to take place in Dolores Lasbs in San Francisco, where selected developers will be asked to pitch their games both to the judges and an audience.

Sitting on the panel will be VP of product for Google+ Bradley Horowitz, Trinity Ventures general partner Gus Tai, VentureBeat's lead writer Dean Takahashi and director of business models at Best Buy Margita Labhard.

Organisers also claim a number of VC firms, investors and advisors will also be in attendance, giving even the losing studios a chance to strike up a deal.

Developers can submit their titles until January 24. More details on Get Discovered can be found on the competition's website.
