Brute force ad budget gets games into App Store top 100

Over on the AdWhirl Blog, they've been strangling a few numbers in an effort to make them confess how much advertising revenue it would cost to make the App Store top 100 list.
The fact that it's even a possibility is quite encouraging, since the data suggests that it takes around 2500 downloads per day to make the list - not an impossible amount by any means.
Landing this number of downloads through pure advertising alone isn't cheap, however. The results showed that an average of $1875 a day of advertising revenue should land pretty much any application in the top 100 list.
The blog post acknowledges this is a pretty hefty budget, especially for a small iPhone developer, but also advises on targeting an audience carefully through sites such as Pocket Gamer.
Either way, it's interesting to see the figures on how hard-hitting ad campaigns can punch through the white noise of the App Store - if the developer has the budget.
