Cameron Owen's Tail Drift wins Unity's $20,000 Flash in a Flash development contest
Designed to coincide with the release of Unity 3.5's open beta in December, arcade racer Tail Drift has been named as the winner of the firm's first Flash in a Flash game creation contest.
The game, created by Cameron Owen, came out on top when judges determined the best 10 entries from a pool of more than 500 a number Unity claims demonstrates "how fast games can be created, ported, and deployed to the Flash platform using Unitys development tools".
Fun with Flash
"Not only is Tail Drift incredibly fun, but it also shows off both the amazing technology and fast development capabilities of Unity," said Lucas Meijer, Unity's Flash development lead.
"It's extremely gratifying to see the development community adopt and take-off at such a rapid pace with the new beta, and we can't wait to see the stellar work that is still in store."

The game which offers players the chance to race through tracks decorated by floating islands, hot air balloons and other obstacles earned Owen $20,000 for his troubles, with prizes also on offer for all of the final 10 apps.

Three runners up - AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome by Owlchemy Labs, Six Sides of the World by Emilio José Lopera Joyera and Ski Safari by Brendan Watts - will be awarded $1,000 each, along with Unity Pro with iOS Pro and an iPad 2.
An additional six games earned their creators Unity Pro with iOS Pro as reward.
