Games publisher Carry1st has launched its flagship Call of Duty: Mobile tournament as part of the Carry1st Africa Cup 2025.

This year’s edition is expected to be the biggest yet, with over 200 teams and more than 1,000 players participating. It will feature players from seven African regions including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya and Uganda.

Carry1st’s Call of Duty: Mobile tournament will take place from May to July, concluding with a LAN Grand Finals in Lagos, Nigeria, this August with a $15,000 prize pool.

The tournament's champions will earn Africa’s spot in the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2025, where they’ll compete for a share of a $1 million global prize pool.

Over the next three months, regional qualifiers will be held every Friday to Sunday to determine the teams advancing to the LAN Grand Finals. Each region will have its own group stage, playoffs, and regional finals as part of the tournament structure.

How to register

Registration for the Carry1st Africa Cup opened on May 3rd, with closing dates varying by region, according to the official website

Teams must include at least five starting players and one substitute, and participants must reside in the country they represent. The tournament is open to both amateur and professional gamers.

The regional qualifiers will run from May to July, leading up to the LAN Grand Finals in Lagos. Carry1st said it will provide travel support for qualifying teams.

This year's edition has also received official recognition from Activision as a qualifier for the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2025, offering African players a direct path to compete on the global stage.

“We are excited to announce the return of Call of Duty: Mobile as part of our Carry1st Africa Cup this year,” said Carry1st VP of growth Guillaume Noé.

“Last year was incredible and showed us what this continent's talent can do when given the right platform. Now we're raising the stakes with more players and more regions."

Co-head of Call of Duty: Mobile at Activision Jeffrey Gullett commented: “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Carry1st on the Africa Cup.

“This tournament is shaping up to be a major moment for African esports, creating real opportunities for the best Call of Duty: Mobile players regionally to break through and compete globally.
