New UK-based casual outfit Zattikka has announced it's acquiring casual games company Gimme5games (formerly mobile developer Morpheme) and its popular web portal.

Founded by former Virgin Interactive president Tim Chaney and ex Yahoo! Europe CEO Mark Opzoomer, Zattikka is looking to build up a network of casual and mobile game portals.

"This is a fantastic first acquisition for us," says Chaney.

"In Gimme5games we have a talented team and a superb collection of games. These guys are experts in the browser gaming and download space, having racked up over 140,000,000 plays globally.

"Having worked with Matt Spall before at VIE, I know we have great guys on board and it will be a pleasure to work with him again"

Gimme5Games' Matt Spall, previously of Eidos, and team members Ian Willey and Ronny Batty will be joining Zattikka as part of the deal.

Spall becomes head of product development, Willey portal, content and creative manager, and Batty, senior developer.

"We're really pleased to find such an exciting new home for Gimme5games, and with the combined industry heritage of Tim Chaney and Mark Opzoomer at the helm, we see Zattikka doing great things with this, and all its planned exploits," Spall explains.

The acquisition comes as Zattikka prepares to launch its new 'gore 'n' guns' web portal, BADHED.
