The University of Wolverhampton has announced that it's hosting the CGames 2008 conference in November this year.

Its full title is The International Conference on Computer Games, AI, Animation, Mobile, Interactive Multimedia, Educational & Serious Games. Phew. Last year it was held in France.

Anyway, the aim is to take an academic spin on the theory and practice of game development, bringing together experts to discuss the latest technologies, research and applications.

As you can tell from the long name, mobile is part of the conference, but not its sole focus.

That's a good thing - creative mobile games people are as likely to be interested in what's going on in areas like virtual worlds and augmented reality, for example, as in their own industry.

The conference takes place from 3-5 November, and costs £350 (or £250 if you're a student), with a £150 day-pass available too. For more information, and to respond to the Call for Papers, check the official website.
