UK broadcaster Channel 4 is reportedly considering funding mobile games, as part of a wider move into the games market that includes web, console and alternate reality games (ARGs).

However, judging by Develop's report on comments by commissioning editor Adam Gee, it's not clear where mobile is on that list of priorities.

Talking about consoles, Develop quotes Gee as saying "We're not looking to create from scratch in that market but looking how we can re-use what we've leveraged in other areas on those platforms".

When it comes to turning its big TV shows into mobile games, Channel 4 may have a problem. Many of the most popular ones have already been licensed - including Deal or No Deal, Countdown, The Simpsons and Desperate Housewives.

Still, with Granada Ventures eagerly signing deals for its popular gameshows, there's surely more deals to be done by Channel 4 in the months ahead.

EDIT: Adam has posted a comment on this story saying he was misquoted by Develop.
