Given more and more developers are opting to follow the freemium model even if only for set periods rather than indefinitely it's no surprise that Chillingo has opted to add in app monetisation tools to its Crystal SDK to accommodate them.

Chillingo claims the refreshed SDK will now enable developers to generate revenue via in app micro transactions, with virtual goods, gifting and promotions all on offer.

Model SDK

"We now offer our developers two alternative business models to engage gamers the traditional one-off paid model, and a freemium model," said Chillingo co-founder and director Joe Wee.

"We have spent the past six months extending our technology framework. It now provides our developers and ultimately our customers more choice in how they choose to engage with social games on mobile platforms."

In support of the new addition, Chillingo claims it will soon launch a free MMORPG empire title My Kingdom, with other mobile platforms outside of iOS set to benefit from Crystal come Q4 2010.

Developers looking to take advantage should visit Chillingo's website.
