In an interesting corporate move, UK iOS specialist publisher Chillingo has released its first game for Windows Phone.

However, Spider Jack - a Cut the Rope-esque puzzler from Russian outfit MaxNick - has been published by Chillingo's parent company EA, rather than under the Chillingo brand itself.

Equally confusingly, when the game was released on iOS, it came out through Chillingo's Clickgamer label.

Still, Chillingo's executives are keen to highlight their Windows Phone debut as the first of many.

"We are excited to introduce Chillingo games to the Windows Phone 7, and see it as a new opportunity to bring players the games they want to play, on the devices they want to use," said Chris Byatte, co-general manager and co-founder of Chillingo.

"Spider Jack is already a fan-favorite title and we look forward to bringing even more popular Chillingo games to the Windows Phone Marketplace in the future," added Joe Wee, Chillingo's other co-general manager and co-founder.

It's also expected the company will be aggressively releasing on Android and, more generally, free-to-play games in 2012; two fast growing sectors it to-date has ignored.
