Finnish mobile developer Critical Force has raised $4.5 million as part of a deal to expand into Asia with its game Critical Ops.

The money comes from South Korean publisher NHN Entertainment Corp, which will also help to push the game out to South Korea, China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia.

“We are super excited to begin cooperation with NHN Entertainment," said Critical Force's CEO, Veli-Pekka Piirainen.

Extra firepower

"The funding gives us extra firepower to extend our talented team of 18 people and take our strategy as a leading mobile eSports company to a new level."

"We have already been very thrilled with the player community's reaction to our new title Critical Ops and we are looking forward to starting a new era in mobile eSports together with NHN Entertainment."

The funding and publishing deal will go some way to helping Critical Ops "become the no.1 mobile FPS eSports game in the world", as Piirainen mentioned in his interview with us ahead of his talk this week at Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki 2016.
