DeviceAnywhere has announced that it's added the first Android handset, T-Mobile's G1, to its virtual handset testing service.

The G1 joins more than 1,500 other phones on the service, including the iPhone 3G and BlackBerry Bold. Users can now test the handset virtually, including its touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, camera and network connection.

"We are pleased to offer our developer community a convenient and cost-effective way to develop content and applications for the Android G1 through our T-Mobile Virtual Developer Lab program," says DeviceAnywhere CEO Faraz Syed.

The company is using the G1 as a sales hook, inviting developers to register to trial it, and giving them three free hours before they have to pay.

However, Google itself has been courting developers in recent months, selling unlocked G1 handsets for $399 so they can test their games and applications on an actual device.
