Exec cites travel and lengthy commute as reasons for exit
EA Mobile senior VP Mike Verdu departs

EA Mobile senior vice president Mike Verduhas decided to part ways with the publisher.

As reported by GameBeat, Verdu said he was leaving in part due to the travelling required for the job, as well as an unsustainable commute. He will officially depart the company during the first week of May.

Verdu joined EA Mobile in February 2017 after leaving Kabam amidst its sale to Netmarble. Before that he also held the position of chief creative officer at Zynga where he worked on titles such as Empires & Allies, FrontierVille and CastleVille.

Verdu also previously worked at EA prior to Zynga and ran its Los Angeles studio where he worked on the Command & Conquer franchise, The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth and Medal of Honor.

The news of Verdu’s exit follows on from EA’s recent decision to reshuffle and add a new addition to its executive team.

Verdu’s departure is thought to be unrelated to the publisher's decision to retool the executive team.

“I hired some great people into my leadership team and am able to transition gracefully,” he said.

“It was awesome to go back to EA and help out their mobile organisation. It felt like closing a circle.”
