EA opens the floodgates: all iOS games reduced to 99c in Holiday blow out

Earlier in the day, I wrote an article suggesting that in this era of freemium games, the significance of setting your games to 99c for iTunes' Christmas - or Holiday - season lock-out seemed less important.

At that stage, Gameloft had set a bunch of its titles to 99c, while some EA games had also drifted down, but in neither case did it appear particularly interesting, such is the regularity of 99c sales during the course of a year.

Of course, EA in its 800lb gorilla status has since gone all 'king of the jungle' over it, cutting the price on its entire App Store library to 99c - that's including current games such as Trenches 2, FIFA 12, Dead Space for iPad and Madden 12.

I guess we'll see the results in its Q3 financials, which cover the October to December period due in early February.
