With a host of upgrades, Epic has unveiled its January 2012 Unreal Development Kit (UDK) beta, allowing licensed developers access to the latest tools for Unreal Engine 3.

The new UDK which has been detailed on Epic's Unreal Engine website offers a number of refinements when it comes to rendering, painting and landscape forming, as well as fixes and upgrades to the Unreal editor.

Colour me happy

On the iOS front, the only upgrade detailed in the beta's documentation is added support for colour grading.

"Epic Games, Inc. has released the January 2012 Unreal Development Kit Beta, the latest version of the free edition of Unreal Engine 3 that provides access to the award-winning 3D game engine and toolset used in blockbuster video game development, architectural visualisation, mobile game development, 3D rendering, digital films and more," the firm announced on the site.

Developers looking to download the UDK beta can pick it up from UDK.com.
