Playtopia Festival 2026 returns to Cape Town from 3–5 December, transforming the Homecoming Centre in District Six into Africa’s most imaginative celebration of indie games, digital art, and experimental play. The festival brings together global legends, emerging developers, artists, and enthusiasts for three days of game exhibitions, talks, workshops, and creative community experiences. With its signature retro‑fantasy arcade “Arcadia,” Playtopia offers a vibrant, immersive space featuring over 150 playable games, installation art, and cutting‑edge interactive showcases. 

Attendees can explore upcoming titles from both local studios and international creators, enjoy industry talks from renowned speakers, and participate in open calls for developers, volunteers, and artists. Supported by indie studios and publishers worldwide, Playtopia continues to grow as a premier destination for creative experimentation and cross‑disciplinary collaboration. With its welcoming atmosphere and strong community focus, the 2026 edition is expected to draw 1,500+ attendees, making it one of the continent’s most influential indie gaming gatherings.
