Five years on, Smaato's now serving 16 billion ad requests per month

Ad network and optimisation firm Smaato has revealed its global network now serves more than 16 billion ad requests per month double the 8 billion figure the Finnish firm reported in its figures for June.
The stats release comes as part of the network's fifth anniversary, with company CEO and co-founder Ragner Kruse revealing Smaato has almost tripled its reach since the start of 2010.
Smaato now has 7,000 registered publishers on its network, up from 6,000 in June.
Starting out Smaato
"We started Smaato five years ago to develop apps and recognised early on the need for mobile advertising services that quickly became our only focus," he said, celebrating the milestone.
"The mobile advertising market is growing exponentially and we are excited about the next phase in the mobile economy. A big thank you to all our customers, partners, investors, friends and the global Smaato team who supported us along the way and believed in our vision."

Optimising opportunities
Smaato has decided to mark the occasion by releasing a white paper designed to break down the process of ad optimisation.
The paper gives detail on how both developers and publishers can best navigate and monetise ad opportunities on mobile, helping them see a better return on their investment.
"We hope that the information in this paper and the monthly Smaato Metrics provide education and a benchmark to demonstrate that mobile ad-optimisation can drive effective monetisation on a global scale," added Smaato CMO and co-founder Harald Neidhardt.
The paper dubbed the Mobile Advertising Ecosystem - can be downloaded for free from the firm's website.
