Flurry launches analytics tool for Java, iPhone and Android apps

US firm Flurry has launched a new analytics service for mobile applications, with the aim of providing developers with more info on who, how and where their apps are being used.
The service works for iPhone, Android and Java applications (presumably including games), and will be free to developers.
The company is also offering a platform for application deployment, advertising management and user engagement, according to Mashable.
Mobile gaming has historically been something of a wilderness when it comes to detailed information on who's playing games and how they're playing them.
In fact, most publishers have counted themselves lucky if they could get vaguely timely sales figures from their operator partners. The advent of iPhone and Android is spurring a new need for more accurate data, though.
It'll be interesting to see how Flurry's tool fits in with operator distribution of apps on the Java side. But the company seems well-placed to capitalise on app developers' thirst for more knowledge about their users.
