Given the very public spat analytics company Flurry had with Apple CEO Steve Jobs back in June it's hardly surprising it's looking to branch out in terms of platform support, launching its AppCircle app recommendations platform on Android.

AppCircle, which made its debut on iPhone and iPad in July is designed to recommend more appropriate apps to users, making use of Flurry's analytics to make targeted suggestions from within its network of participating apps.

AppCircle for all

In short, AppCircle analyses the apps already on a user's device in order to push similar titles from within Flurry's network it believes may appeal.

"With over 100,000 applications in the Android Market and limited promotional services beyond rankings, quality applications are struggling to rise above the noise," said Flurry CEO Simon Khalaf.

"We are excited to bring AppCircle to the Android platform and give our 30,000 developers a seamless and cost-efficient discovery solution."

Focus on value

From a developer point of view, AppCircle also works as a promotion tool, allowing studios to directly advertise their apps within a pre-set budget.

Firms signed up to run AppCircle ads also benefit, picking up 60 percent of the money generated from each download.

It's a set-up that has performed well on iOS, with Flurry claiming 600 apps have signed up to date, reaching out to an estimated 22 million users.
