Former Jamdat execs raise funds for virtual world

Former Jamdat Mobile executives Minard Hamilton and Ben Jones have raised $7 million of Series A funding for their new startup, Six Degrees Games.
The company isn't focusing on mobile, but is instead launching a sports-based virtual world for 6-14 year-olds. For the moment, it's in closed beta.
Six Degrees raised the money from Clearstone Venture Partners and Prism VentureWorks, and the Southern California-based startup has nabbed executives from both VC firms to join its board of directors.
The world has a website which hints at its rich 3D visuals, but few other details are available.
It'll be interesting to see if Action Allstars does have a mobile element though - the sports theme would certainly suit some kind of mobile mini-games.
That said, a few years negotiating the technical and business barriers of the mobile games industry may have put Minard and Jones off this strategy for good!
