Foursquare might now be willing to proclaim Symbian as one of the most important platforms in the world, but the company's decision to ply its trade on iPhone and Android first speaks volumes.

Regardless, just two weeks after Nokia first revealed it was working with Foursquare to bring the app to Symbian devices, the location-based title has finally made its debut.

Super Symbian

"In the past couple of weeks, we've rolled out updates to Foursquare on a lot of different platforms, but there was one new introduction that we were particularly excited about: Foursquare for Symbian," Foursquare said on its blog.

"Nokia, the global market leader in mobile handsets sold, has been working closely with us for several months to deliver a unique Foursquare experience to their users."

Foursquare claims the Symbian version comes with its own specialised home screen widget that displays an always active snapshot of friend's recent check-ins.

The company has confirmed further updates to its set up are also planned in the future.

"In the two weeks since we announced it, we've seen a tremendous response it's shot up the ranks of the Ovi store and will help introduce Foursquare to Nokia's hundreds of millions of users around the world."

Foursquare on Symbian is compatible with versions 3.2, 5.0 and ^3 of the OS.
