Free mobile game portal Djuzz does 8.3 million downloads in June

If you want to understand mobile game distribution in the developing world, the rise of BuzzCity's Djuzz portal is a good place to start.
Since it launched in January 2010, it's served 12.8 million free games to 22.6 million unique visitors across Java, Symbian and Android.
However, during June, its growth rate just hit the hockey stick curve.
It delivered 8.3 million games to 14.8 million uniques. That's up 295 percent in terms of downloads and 335 percent in terms of unique visitors from May.
On average, the portal now gets 490,000 unique daily visitors.

Expansion drivers
This growth is being driven in part by the rollout of support for new languages. Djuzz is currently available in English, French, Thai, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia and Chinese, with Arabic, Spanish and Vietnamese versions due soon.
The World Cup has also caused an uplift in terms of football games with the downloads of titles such as 2008 World Soccer, Footballz, Euro Football, Footballz 2009 and Footballz Africa Edition up 709 percent in June.
Action and adventure games remain the most popular genre however with Fatal Fist the most downloaded during June.

Djuzz currently has 5,200 games available for download, spread across 29 categories and created by 70 game developers and publishers.
