Gamelion has launched its first product for Google's Android platform, although it's less of a game, and more of an edutainment app.

It's called Global Factbook, and is based on political, geographical and economic data from the CIA's World Factbook publication.

So, besides providing info on countries around the world (including using the G1 handset's GPS to identify where a user is right now), there's a quiz game element too.

"We have consciously decided that Global Factbook should be the first application to hit Android Market, since it's not addressed to a selected group of users only," says producer Adam Skrzyszewski.

"We have been working on a development framework, which would enable us to deploy mobile games and applications for Android efficiently. The release of Global Factbook proves we're on the right track to making our other products available to Android users soon."

There's also a J2ME version available for Sony Ericsson and Nokia handsets, which includes the GPS feature when available.
