Following its deal with Epic to license the studio's Unreal Engine in releases over the next two years, Gameloft has also entered into a partnership with chip specialist Qualcomm.

The two firms are said to be working together to ensure Gameloft's biggest franchises are optimised for Qualcomm's family of Snapdragon chips.

The publisher's output which include the likes of SpiderMan Total Mayhem HD, Real Football 2011 HD, GT Racing: Motor Academy HD and Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus will be coded to take advantage of current and future iterations of Qualcomm's MSM8x55 and dual-core MSM8x60 on Android handsets.

Partnership of power

"We are happy to work with Qualcomm to bring a great gaming experience to tablets and smartphones powered by Snapdragon processors," said VP of publishing at Gameloft, Baudouin Corman.

"These powerful devices also will help enable the development of immersive games such as Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD, N.O.V.A. - Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance and others.

"Gameloft is committed to delivering the best HD games to the Android platform and we are pleased to work with Qualcomm to take it to the next level."

Two two parties have already worked together to leverage Qualcomm's Adreno GPU on Gameloft's Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles.
