Games flying high in App Store 2008 chart

Apple has released what appear to be charts of the most popular paid and free iPhone apps from 2008.

There are no figures, obviously, and the way the chart is presented on the iTunes Store means we're unsure what the exact order is - or whether it's based on pure download numbers, or revenues, or some combination of the two.

But suffice to say, games are dominating the Top 10 paid apps chart, with Texas Hold'em, Moto Chaser, Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart, Super Monkey Ball, Cro-Mag Rally and Enigmo all in there.

They're all launch games, interestingly - the big games released in the months since the App Store went live don't get a look-in.

Meanwhile, Tap Tap Revenge and Labyrinth Lite are the two games appearing in the Top 10 Free Apps chart, although THQ Wireless' Lightsaber Unleashed is also in there.
