Garena's 2025 esports roadmap for Free Fire will include “dynamic" tournaments, new competitive formats, and a Global Talent Development program.

Two major international events will take the spotlight, including the FFWS Global Finals in Jakarta, Indonesia, this November. The event will feature 18 top teams battling for the championship.

The Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will also feature Free Fire from July 15 to 20, 2025, where the winner will earn a spot in the Global Finals. The roadmap also includes regional leagues and updates to the game's competitive scene.

Garena said that its new Global Talent Development program for Free Fire will support teams, players, and content creators by offering workshops and mentorship from industry professionals to help them reach their full potential and strengthen the esports ecosystem.

New format changes

Garena is also introducing several format upgrades to Free Fire tournaments this year. First, the finals will only be two days long, with a Point Rush followed by the Grand Final.

One big change is "Last Game, Double Elimination," where players get double points for eliminations in the last match of each Knockout Stage, making the final moments very important.

In the FFWS Global Finals, there's a new twist called Champion Rush Point: teams need to reach a specific point first, and the first team to win after that will take the trophy. If no one does after eight games, the top-ranked team wins.

Last year, Garena teamed up with Tencent to publish the tactical FPS Delta Force. The Free Fire publisher will handle the game's release in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Central and South America, Brazil, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The game is currently available for PC and will launch on mobile this year.
